If anything we need to be spending much more money. The list can go on and on of products NASA has improved or was able to come into creation because of the advances they have made. All NASA wants is instead of giving them 1/2 of a penny for every tax dollar they like a whole penny and that would fund everything they want to do. Think about it, space is vast and challenging and forces us to create whole branches of new tech to even explore and investigate it. People need to stop underestimating the power of space exploration.
